Bortolomiol Bandarossa Valdobbiadene Prosecco D.O.C. Extra Dry Millesimato

(UPC # 886308464214)

BANDAROSSA. A “GOOD SIGN”Originally the banda rossa or Red Band was a mark that the founder Giuliano Bortolomiol put only on bottles containing the best Extra Dry of the year. These were the bottles that were kept for real friends, those who shared his passion for the land, tradition and good wine. That special Prosecco that Giuliano marked has, since 1986, had its own label and signifies the quality of the best wines from the Bortolomiol winery.
FOOD PAIRINGS: An exclusive apéritif, to enjoy with elegant, delicate dishes.
TASTING NOTES: The bouquet is rich and enormously pleasurable. The fragrance is of a variety of mature fruit: an aroma of powdery yellow apple and pear stand out, while there are also gentle shades of citrus sweet, fine flowery hints. The creamily sparkling palette doesn’t disappoint as it’s well moulded into the sugar residue. Wonderful as an aperitif, this wine is intriguing with savoury dishes delicately combined with fruit, such as trout marinated with Melissa grass accompanied by cooked must and sour cream.  Bortolomiol Superiore di Cartizze Valdobbiadene D.O.C.

(UPC # 886308364293)

There is a particularly precious hillside area in Valdobbiadene called Cartizze. The Cartizze hill is a genuine Grand Cru. It is said that from these few hilly hectares the best Prosecco grapes are grown. For its unique exposure to the sun and the mineral-rich soil, here the Prosecco vines produce more rounded berries, heavy with juice and with a sugary taste that makes them of absolutely the highest quality. These grapes are only ever harvested by hand.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Naturally sweetish, ideal for the end of a meal. A superb sparkling wine for special occasions.
TASTING NOTES: This Cartizze has a fine and persistent perlage, a real invitation to drink. But first one should take a moment to enjoy its pleasant, inviting fragrance, the main feature of Prosecco. Here we have aromas of fruit cocktail, hazelnuts and sweet acacia flowers in an exhilarating fusion. In the mouth the characteristic sugars are balanced by a freshness and notable density and creaminess. This is a wine for special occasions which can be enjoyed alone or as the perfect accompaniment for fine, subtlely sweet pastries. (Tasting & text by Michele Bressan)

PERLAGE: Fine and persistant
BOUQUET: Fine, intense, fruity and aromatic

Bortolomiol Prior Valdobbiadene Prosecco D.O.C. Brut

(UPC # 886308164213)

The number one sparkling wine from the traditional line from the Bortolomiol winery. The Roman numeral underneath the label and the name Prior bear testament to the fact that Giuliano Bortolomiol had the intuition to create a brut Prosecco at a time when it was only ever an Extra Dry. Prior symbolises Giuliano’s pioneering spirit and his belief in the Prosecco vine and in the Martinotti - Charmat sparkling winemaking method with fermentation in an autoclave, also known as the Italian Method.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Thanks to its dry taste, it is a perfect aperitif. An excellent match with white meat and fish dishes.
TASTING NOTES: The highlights of the aromatic spectrum here are cleanliness and fineness. The fruity hints are very strong, with sharp green apple and citrus standing out and complemented by fresh floral hints. The agile flavour developing on the palette is felt at once, vital and dry. The freshness of this wine makes it ideal as an aperitif with sea food and with dishes dressed with extra virgin olive oil, such as fish salad. It also goes very well with lard crostini. PERLAGE: Fine and persistent

Filanda Rose Brut Millesimato Riserva Pinot Nero

(UPC # 886308105001)

Great sparkling wine maker that he was, Giuliano Bortolomiol made his first rosé in the early 1970s. Today his daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana together with their mother Ottavia present a wonderful sparkling rosé, the Filanda Rosé. They have decided to dedicate this wine to the women who worked in the Valdobbiadene silk mills, women who with their hard work contributed so greatly to the development of the area. A homage from women to women, proudly pink with a splendid mousse.
GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir
FOOD PAIRINGS: This sparkling wine is perfect as an aperitif and as a refined accompaniment for hors d’oeuvres and first courses from a variety of international cuisines, particularly Japanese.
TASTING NOTES: This wine is made using Pinot Nero grapes from the Oltrepò Pavese area in north west Italy. After careful maturation the wine develops a lovely pink colour, delicate while intense and assertive. The bouquet has the liveliness of wide, variegated fruity sensations counterbalanced by the finess and complexity of its almost meaty floral notes, spiced with pepper and cinnamon. In the mouth it is the wine’s freshness and good body as well as its notable persistent fragrant flavour which are most evident. A rich fish soup with tomatoes is a worthy accompaniment, as is a tasty onion and cheese soup. Spicy foods go particularly well with this Rosé as they bring out its exotic character. (Tasting & text by Michele Bressan)
COLOR: Delicate bright rose pink
PERLAGE: Fine and persistent
