GABRIEL MEFFRE "LA CHÁSSE" WINES
La Chasse is a brand produced by Maison Gabriel Meffre which was established in 1936 in Gigondas in the heart of the Rhône Valley.
Since the beginning, La Châsse has been crafted by Véronique Torcolacci, Gabriel Meffre's Head Winemaker who manages to achieve exceptional consistency vintage after vintage. It is a quintessentially French wine representing all that is good about the land with the most illustrious tradition of fine winemaking.
What has made La Châsse a favorite with wine drinkers around the world is its consistently delicious, fruity and elegant style - a modern wine with classic values. The name, La Châsse, refers to a chest used to store the treasures of the Pontiffs who lived in Avignon, on the banks of the River Rhône, during the 14th Century.
GABRIEL MEFFRE "LA CHÁSSE" CABERNET SAUVIGNON
In the South of France Cabernet Sauvignon yields a wine of finesse with rich currant fruit flavours. Delicious with grilled or marinated meats and mature cheeses.
Winemaking:The finest vineyards are harvested to source the grapes selected for this tremendous Cabernet Sauvignon. Part of the harvest is completed late, so the grapes are extra-mature, thereby helping to flesh out the wines and make them rich and round. The wine is macerated for 2 to 3 weeks in order to extract the ideal amount of colour and flavour. After vinification, the wine is aged in vats for 6 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes:This Cabernet is a deep crimson colour with purple hints, typical of the variety. It is highly aromatic with notes of ripe black fruit, spices and red pepper. The texture is velvety smooth and the fruit is sweet and spicy. Delicious with grilled or marinated meats and mature cheeses. Keep it in your cellar for up to 2 years if you like, but it is drinking well now.
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon. Appellation: Vin de France

The grapes are pressed after a short skin maceration. After 24 hours the clear juice is racked off. The wine is not aged in oak.
Tasting Notes:The nose has aromas of exotic fruits and white flowers and the palate is fresh, lively and balanced. It will keep for a couple of years but is best enjoyed the year after harvest when its ripe, exotic fruit aromas are still fresh and vivid.
