Helios Distillery in Okinawa Japan has been known for producing rums and awamori for a few decades. Little does people know that they’ve been distilling their own whisky for a while and use their rum casks to finish this unique line of new blended whisky. Interesting addition to the world of Japanese whisky.

Kura Pure Malt Japanese Whisky
With a distinctly peaty note, the exceptional Kura Pure Malt is the end result of careful aging in American White Oak. Finished in rum casks, there is a remarkable smoky taste that is complimented by hints of toffee and chocolate. Made in the subtropical climate of Okinawa, the permanence of this unique island imbues this prpremium spirit. Crafted in exceptionally small quantities. Kura is available for limited release in October 2017.
Tasting Notes: “Rich malty flavor and a supple fruited character”
Colour: Rich caramel
Fragrance: Sweet, light iodine and clove
Taste: Pleasant bitterness, full-bodied depth with spice, peat-like character and a hint of aniseed and candied ginger.
Finish: Smokey peaty with some tannin notes, full body.
