Taruškų Brewery
When Darius Vizbaras – the founding father of “Taruškų” brewery – sent out his people to gather him some cannabis, he could never have guessed that the production of a humble Lithuanian village would one day be so efficiently advertised by the high bureaucrats of the capital.
It so happened that the roasted hemp seeds were used in the production of the experimental “Kanapių” (Cannabis) beer. Having won the hearts of the locals, the beer started circulating across the beloved motherland until…and this is so cliché…the bureaucrats decided to ban it. That was a lot of fun. Today – thanks to the efforts of the state officials – it is more popular than ever before. That’s the brief story of the scandalous Taruškų “Cannabis” beer with the taste of roasted nuts and the color of dark Baltic amber.
Founded at the turn of the millennium, “Taruškų” brewery is located near the city of Panevėžys in a picturesque Juosta river region, Trakiškis village. In the beginning the above-named founding father, a true master of beer technologies dreamed of something rather different from the current reputation of a chic beer trendsetter. Mr. Vizbaras had another objective in mind – a strong leadership in the production of natural, traditional Lithuanian beer.

KANAPINIS AMBER LAGER BEER
During the brewing of experimental beer at the brewery “Taruškų alaus bravoras” a type of beer with hemp was made. This beer has received great popularity among students, and then among wider audience as well. For brewing beer of “Kanapinis” type roasted hemp seeds are used, which gives the beer a smell of roasted nuts and a burnt, sweet taste.
Beer is made in accordance with the classic beer-brewing technology. Natural ingredients, open-type fermentation, and lengthy and thorough maturing gives to this beer a mild and sweetish flavour. Barley malt makes the beer the colour of light amber.

KANAPINIS DARK LAGER BEER
As pale “Kanapinis” received great popularity, the dark version of this beer was brewed as well. For brewing of the beer, hemp seeds and roasted malt is used which gives rich dark colour and, upon tasting, caramel savour with distinct hop bitterness unfolds.
This beer is made from natural ingredients only: water, malt, hops and yeast. A combination of caramel malts used when producing this beer gives it a rich ruby colour and slight bitterness of burnt caramel.

MAGARYCIU SPECIAL ALE BEER
Magaryčios in common parlance means feast after any kind of affair (sale, purchase, deal or similar). The yeast, which is rich of proteins and B vitamins, is not separated during the production process.
Semi-pale beer. A combination of barley, rye and caramel malts infuses this beer with slight bitterness and expressive aroma.
