The Wedge wave dates back to 1950 when it was first conquered by body surfers. This freak anomaly occurs when more than one wave bounces back off the Newport jetty, causing it to sharply increase in size before collapsing down fiercely. If Mother Nature is in your corner and you are fortunate enough, you may end up achieving a triumphant barrel exit.
The South African wine culture started in 1652. This is your chance to get a slice of this remarkable history.
The Wedge wines are for the love of wine and waves. For the rad betties and dudes who live for the barrels, epic wipe-outs and hang ten moments. For the ones who never want to grow up or grow old. Enjoy a wine that will make you dream of the ocean while you're on dry land.
The Wedge wines are proudly produced in the Swartland with minimal intervention by Stephan Basson

The Wedge Chenin Blanc
100% Chenin Blanc
Crisp, fresh and fruity. This wine has a great spectrum of fruit aromas and minerality, which are terroir driven. A lively and lingering palate.
The grapes were handpicked with great care. Grapes were destalked and lightly crushed. Only the free-run juice was fermented at a cold temperature for a long period. The wine was left on the fermentation lees until bottling.
Notes of apple and lemon zest from Chenin combine with ripe apricot and honeysuckle flavors from Roussanne; the granite soils impart a crisp acidity and distinctive minerality. Pair with light seafood or chicken dishes.

The Wedge Pinotage

The grapes were handpicked with great care and destalked only. A 48-hour cold maceration period was given prior to fermentation to extract color and fruit. Skins were gently pressed after fermentation. Malolactic fermentation (MLF) took place in barrels. Once MLF was done, the wine spent a further 10 months French oak barrels.
100% Pinotage
Elegance, finesse and fruit driven. The dark color, soft tannins and fine complexity is a true reflection from our granite soils. A lively mid palate is rounded off by a lingering presence of ripe tannins.
