Carmelita Rompope
is a premium eggnog-like drink made with 3 types of milk, cinnamon bark, no additives, and premium Alcohol de Caña. It is a traditional drink throughout Mexico, also known in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and more. It is believed to have been originally made in the convents of the city of Puebla.
We use 3 types of milk in our Rompope; whole milk, light milk and evaporated milk are combined to give Rompope Carmelita’s that unique and wholesome “milky” flavor and texture, for that Traditional “like Grandma” style and flavor.
We add Real cinnamon bark tree roots (Not an extract) to the milk for that extra “all natural” cinnamon taste. Only Real egg yolks are added to add the texture and the color that an all-natural Rompope should have.
Cane alcohol (yes, a Mexican type of Rhum Agricole or 100% run free juice from sugar cane-not molasses) is added making sure that the alcohol does not overpower the Rompope flavor. We do not add starches at all (typically used for consistency)
The Rompope mixture is filtered through a strainer to remove any sediment from the egg yolk or the cinnamon-this is all done manually.
